Bhajanlal Sharma Hands Over Housing Keys to 473 Nomadic Families in Jaipur

Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma handed housing keys to 473 homeless families at a Jaipur ceremony, touching the feet of an elderly woman and highlighting new housing, land titles and education initiatives.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma handed over keys to houses to 473 homeless families from the Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic communities at a housing allocation ceremony organised by the Jaipur Development Authority at Constitution Club.

The event was held with the theme and spirit of “The Key to Happiness, My Home, My Right”, with Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma personally handing over the keys of plots and flats to the beneficiaries.

During the ceremony, Sharma touched the feet of the beneficiaries and sought their blessings. He particularly touched the feet of an elderly woman from the Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic community and received her blessings.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that the day was very auspicious. He said that 10-12 years ago, regional campaigner Durgadas had initiated the campaign to provide housing to people without homes.

“What must the life of a person without a home be like in winter, summer and rain?” Sharma said, questioning the lack of attention given to such families by those who had ruled for the longest period.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had transformed this thinking into reality and described the initiative as the beginning of a “golden chapter” in social justice in Rajasthan.

Sharma said families had been living along roadsides, near ponds and at fairgrounds, moving from one place to another, while facing difficulties in raising and educating their children. He said the government had decided to provide them with land titles as well as education for their children.

The Chief Minister said these communities had historically met the small but important needs of society by making agricultural tools and household utensils. He said they fulfilled the needs of people and the country and that the government was moving forward in the direction of Prime Minister Modi’s Antyodaya vision.

Sharma also criticised the Congress, saying it had done nothing for the state and the country apart from pursuing power and corruption.

He said 472 flats would be provided in Jaysinghpura Khor, while flats in Kota and Jodhpur had also been completed. He said 838 plots and 106 flats had already been allotted and 22,790 land titles had been distributed.

The Chief Minister further said work on a hostel had begun in Jalore. The housing allocations and related measures mark the government’s ongoing effort to provide permanent residential rights and basic opportunities to homeless families from Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic communities.
